Bisol Relio Extra Brut 2009

Mousserande vin

Re-fermentation in the bottle - Dosage
The Glera grape variety that is the soul of this wine is traditionally nurtured in our hills. The objective of this product which we have dedicated 25 years to, first of all with Eliseo and then with Desiderio, is an attempt to reach the difficult balance between the aromas of the primary grape variety and the tertiary aromas i.e. between the classical fruitiness of Prosecco and the nuances of the yeasts and its lysis.

Relio was the affectionate nickname of Aurelio Bisol. Relio was esteemed and loved for his larger than life character, a man who dedicated his entire life to the vine, creating an exceptional symbiosis with the vineyards of the Bisol family.

The art of preparing the dosage, perfected over 50 years, further identifies the ties between Relio and Bisol.

The color is an intense straw yellow with golden hues.

The perlage is lively, persistent and extremely fine.

The bouquet commences with a breadcrust character from the evolution in the bottle, with delicate notes of mature fruit and dried flowers.

The flavor is sapid, full and balanced with a long mineral note integrated with extreme delicacy.

Gassås Wine

The Bisol winery took root in 1875 in the heart of Valdobbiadene, an area that was already at that time the pulsating heart of an activity, characterised by a tendency towards innovation, that still makes it unmistakable today. A true cave of wonders that was excavated into the precious rock and earth of the Prosecco land and maintains a constant temperature range of 10° to 15°C throughout the year,  perfectly conserving some of the Bisol vintages, the most prestigious bottles produced over the centuries.

These bottles can still be admired on location covered with the patina of time and laid out in this “sancta sanctorum” of living rock, manifesting the excellency of the Bisol trademark generation after generation. The family winery has been maintained intact in every detail for many years and the current members of the Bisol family, who are looking after it with particular care, can often be seen moving around within these antique walls in search of inspiration.

Maybe its for this reason that the Bisol Winery is able to evoke such intense sensations and a sense of involvement in the visitors, filling them with the desire to return again and again, once more to savour the charm and fascination of its history.

BISOL- one family name and 21 generations

The beginning

There are sources dating from as early as the 16th century attesting to the Bisol family’s presence in the heart of the historic Prosecco country, specifically the territory known as "Chartice" (the present-day "Cartizze" hillside).

Eliseo Bisol

Only the brutality of the First World War managed, temporarily, to interrupt the modest, but successful, business started by Eliseo Bisol at the beginning of the century. The Valdobbiadene territory lay right on the battle lines between the Austrian-Hungarian forces and their Italian opponents. Despite this setback, thanks to the work of Eliseo’s son, Desiderio, the centuries-old family tradition of winegrowing was back in the best of health come the middle of the 1920s.

Jeio" Bisol

In the years following the Second World War, Desiderio - whose wife had affectionately nicknamed him "Jeio" - travelled the Valdobbiadene and Conegliano hills on his red Moto Guzzi motorbike, searching for the best plots of land to purchase. His dream: to create wine that captured the diverse, yet complimentary qualities of these unique terroirs. Jeio gave each of his children a different role in the business, each according to their educational background: Antonio deals with the administration, while Eliseo is responsible for the winemaking, and Aurelio for the vineyards themselves. Claudio oversees the general running of the business.

“My grandfather Desiderio and my father Antonio were always on the lookout for the best plots to purchase. Those were the steepest ones, and as such the hardest to cultivate, but their gradient and soil composition made them perfect for growing Glera grapes. It shows how long-sighted they were and how important the quality of the final product was for them”.
