Once upon a time...

The Château de Bois-Brinçon Latin Boscus Breceii "small wood" is probably onethe oldest vineyards of Anjou.The wine history began in 1219 when the Chapter Saint Jean Baptiste d'Angers decided to arrenter idle land on the condition that they be planted with vines in two years. Then the Wood-Brinçon undergoes three gels in six years. A difficult period.To generate cash, Xavier's grandfather planted apple trees on the lugs of the Clos.Death in the soul, it stops definitively vinified wine in 1960, and the entire crop share in cooperative.
His son continues and plant new apple trees. In 1990, the Wood-Brinçon has 23 hectares of apple for 22 vineyards.
Xavier, determined to become a winemaker, settled in 1991.

10 years for renewal

It starts with eight hectares. The first years do not play in his favor. He did not demoralize and persevere. It gathers every year the plots of the vineyard left to the cooperative. In 1992, Xavier stops any fertilizer and grass every second row. He quickly noted the results: excess nitrogen has been absorbed, regulates the vine, grapes gradually offer the true face of the land.In 2000, he decides to apply Hérody method, based on observation of the soil. This allows him to differentiate and detail its soils to determine their needs. In 2006, he signed the charter bio and in his first year of conversion.
Present on six communes, Château de Bois-Brinçon wine displays a diversity that is found throughout his wines, all representative of the terroir from which they come.Xavier wanted, more than anything, transcribe this concept of landscapes that we discover bit by bit in its wines through the vinification.
