Its sand terroir allows to make a very vibrant blend of Grenache and Cinsault showing outstanding finesse.

Destemmed and aged in 30% concrete and 70% larger barrels, it has a thrilling perfume of caramelized cherries, strawberries, spiced meats, and licorice, with a touch of Côte Rôtie-like floral notes developing with time in the glass. Seamless, medium to full-bodied, deep, and layered, it’s all about finesse and elegance, yet still offers remarkable depth of fruit. Drink this beautiful Ventoux any time over the coming decade

Description Silica is one of the three single vineyards of Château Pesquié with Artemia and Ascensio. Its name recalls the terroir of sand in which it draws its exceptional finesse and elegance. It also is an hommage to one of the most important elements used in biodynamic farming and that reinforces the brightness and glittering sides of wine.

Soil Sand with a slight presence of limestone gravels.

Varieties 90% Grenache and 10% Cinsault.

Winemaking Fermented in a concrete tank, maceration of a little less than 4 weeks with particularly soft infusion (the cap is very lightly wetted everyday to limit extraction).

Aging for 12 to 15 months in a selection of 600 L barriques (75%) and a ciment egg (25%). Bottled at the Château.

Tasting Color : ruby Nose : delicate and intense at the same time, with aromas of flowers and fresh red berries. Mouth : very bight and juicy, with a lot of finesse and silky tannins, with crisp berry notes, kirch and white peper.

Food & wine pairing Serve at 18°C (64°F) with charcuteries or grilled meat. This very delicate wine will find great harmony with light and refined dishes rather than more powerful ones.

Château Pesquié - A family adventure lasting three generations

Château Pesquié is the story of a family passionate about the Ventoux region, a region where vines had been cultivated for more than thousand years.

In the early 1970’s, René and Odette Bastide bought Château Pesquié. The area, AOC Côtes du Ventoux, was not created until 1973. Thus, making René and Odette pioneers of this new AOC, with  the beginning of a local production toward - quality rather than quantity. As a result of  René and Odettes work with reconstructing the vineyards, the vines are now in average 35 to 40 years of age, and the oldest close to a hundred years.

In the mid-1980’s their daughter Edith and son-in-law Paul Chaudière decided to take over the family estate. They passed the Consultant Sommelier exams at the “Université du Vin”, and went on several research trips to other great wine regions. Having completed this intensive preparation, Paul, Edith, René & Odette finally set up the Château Pesquié cellars in 1989, leaving the local Cooperative. 

They carried out their first vinifications in 1990, which was a fabulous vintage. The Quintessence 1990 is still beautiful at the moment! At the time, the Appellation had fewer than 10 independent cellars and, once again, the Chaudière family stood out as pioneers in the Ventoux AOC.

In 2003, Paul and Edith’s two sons, Alexandre and Frédéric, took over the Domaine. They are continuing the family tradition: to harness the potential of the outstanding Ventoux terroir and to make extraordinary wines.

Château Pesquié is now a leading estate in the Ventoux AOC and the southern Rhone Valley. The new generation hopes to take it to the next level!
