We observed through the years that sometimes Tempranillo ripens differently insome plants, showing more depth and volume. Robert Parker: Plenty of ripe fruit and a hedonistic profile
Vintage 2016; Released much earlier than the rest of the wines, the 2016 Cirsion is produced with very ripe grapes that they think need less time in oak, and the wine is therefore bottled and released earlier. It's a blend of Tempranillo with 11% Graciano matured in new French barriques for eight months, bottled and released ten months later. This is young and heady, explosive, with plenty of ripe fruit and a hedonistic profile. It has abundant, very fine tannins and a good thread of acidity going through its core that lifts the finish. It's unashamedly modern and showy. 12,500 bottles were filled in March 2018.
James Suckling: Amazingly balanced
This is a very overt but amazingly balanced Cirsion that shows pure blackcurrant and dark-cherry compote. Licorice, oyster shell, tar and mulberries follow. Full-bodied with so much blackberry fruit, but a bedrock of sophisticated, steely tannins. The soft fruit just keeps giving. A bold but expertly delivered wine. Drink in 2026.

Grape sourcing

Bush vines represent the traditional vinegrowing method in Rioja, it offers betterconduction for the juices of the plant, protects is from the heat, and offers a better aeration whenthe vine is old enough.• We have selected some 120 hectares, 70 of them are ours. They are classiffied in 17different landscapes, which are later fermented in 17 different French oak vats.• Sustainability is more than a cliché for us. It is part of our philosophy and it is ouronly future.• Most of them (85% in Haro and surrounding villages) are located in Rioja Alta, butthere is an undeniable part of Alavesa (really close to Alta anyway) and Baja.• We have selected and kept 550 clons of Tempranillo that we haveidentified throughout Rioja.• Our range shows the two profiles of ripening of the Tempranillo: that of the red acidfruit (strawberry, cherry) and a darker fruit one (more oriented towards the plum)• We work mostly (with the only exception of Sela) with Vines older than 30 years,when maturity delivers

In the late 80’s Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella arrived to Rioja with the firm intention of creating a project that brings something new to the world of wine. Bodegas RODA, whose name combines the first letters of the founders' surnames, is located on the Ebro River, on a balcony in the Barrio de La Estación de Haro in Rioja. The winery, which was completed in three separate phases ten years later, is a product of an unprecedented investment in innovation, with tailor-made facilities designed to each phase; the number of barrels for the selected crops in each vintage, a bioclimatic room and two ageing rooms were excavated directly in the rock.

RODA uses old vines that give the wines extraordinary properties. The grapes Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha, original varieties from Rioja, are their hallmarks. Of the 120 hectares of cultivation, 70 hectares are self-owned, while the rest come from local growers with whom you have different agreements. The crops are distributed in different ecosystems between 380 and 650 meters above sea level. RODA uses sustainable agriculture, and avoids chemical synthesis products, for maximum respect for nature's processes and cycles. The harvest is done by hand.

For more than four decades, RODA has established itself as one of the most representative stands in Rioja with the DOC designation of origin, Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin.
