History
Many years ago our grandparents and our father Mr. Ramiro, cultivated their vines in the heart of the Bierzo region and elaborated their wines with mencía grapes in an old winery.
D. Antonio M. Quiroga Carballo , acquired vineyards next to ours and started again to plant mencía, without abandoning the characteristic of traditional elaboration. In 1994, within this commitment to renovation, growth and quality of the Bierzo wine, he decided to use technical and agricultural advice to build Ramiro's own vineyard and the Bodega Cobertizo. In this winery our wines are carefully and lovingly prepared, as always, as a result of the commitment to the best quality of Mencía wines since the year 1996.
Subjected at all times, from the vineyard to its bottling to the rigorous controls of the Regulatory Board of the Bierzo Designation of Origin. All this effort and professional work in the elaboration of the wines, is compensated with the growth of our presence in the national and foreign markets. Our presence in demanding markets such as Switzerland, Italy and countries in Central and Eastern Europe, does not prevent us from continuing our expansion throughout the national territory supported by the quality of our red wines from Bierzo. Our ideas for the future are in the improvement of quality, the satisfaction of our customers and the maintenance of the technological level in the elaboration of our wines. As well as the confidence in the management of our manager and technical director D. Antonio M. Quiroga Carballo and all the human team involved in the project of BODEGA COBERTIZO DE VIÑA RAMIRO
