This is very convincing, complex and downright impressive pinot noir. The intense aromas of ripe cherries and plums are framed in such intensely attractive oak spice and earthy, sous-bois complexity. The palate has regal, polished and powerful tannin and carries a vibrant core of very attractive, rich dark cherries.

Den klart lysande vinstjärnan Dog Point pinot noir med årgång 2016. 100% pinot noir från vingårdar i Marlborough planterade 1983. Druvorna skördas för hand och jäses i små, öppna stålkar (man använder 15 % hela klasar) - jäsningen sker enbart med hjälp av naturlig jäst. Vinet har lagrats i 18 månader på nya och gammal franska ekfat (40 % ny ek). Vinet buteljeras utan filtrering. Missa inte denna finstämda pinot noir.

Dog Point - New Zealand’s Superstar

Dog Point Vineyard is located in Marlborough, New Zealand’s premium wine growing region and is one of the oldest privately established vineyards in the area. Almost since its inception, Dog Point has been recognized as among the very top (arguably the very top) wine producers in New Zealand. 

The owners Ivan Sutherland and James Healy met while working at New Zealand’s iconic Cloudy Bay Vineyards, Ivan as its viticulturist for 18 years and  James as the Company's Oenologist for 12 years. Sharing the same aspirations to return to a more 'hands-on' approach of winemaking, the founded Dog Point Vineyard in 2002. Using fruit from the 80 hectare the pair launched the Dog Point label together with wives Wendy and Margaret in February 2004 using fruit from the 2002 vintage

Dog Point produces a small but high-quality portfolio of four incredibly exciting wines. Their two very different Sauvignon Blancs, their Pinot Noir, and their Chardonnay are all wines of astounding quality and complexity not just in the context of New Zealand wines, but globally.

The wines are hand-crafted from estate fruit grown on some of the oldest vines and best sites in Marlborough, some plantings dating back to the 1970s. The vineyards are certified organic under the BioGro New Zealand Programme.

The name Dog Point dates from the earliest European settlement of Marlborough and the introduction of sheep to the district. These were days of few fences, of boundary riders and "boundary keeping dogs". Shepherds' dogs sometimes became lost or wandered off, eventually breeding to form a marauding pack that attacked the same flocks they were meant to be protecting.  Over time the settlers were able to remove these wild dogs and the area was named Dog Point. These dogs lived on the southern hills of Dog Point Vineyards.  

Dog Point Vineyard produces wine that reflects the experience and passion of the people that make them. Wines are made to drink well on release or cellar gracefully for many years.
