Again succeeded immensely talented Philippe Bravery to conjure a wonderful Chateauneuf-du-Pape, despite Vintage challenges. Wine with enormous elegance and finesse - beautifully bound together with the elasticity, depth and power. The smell is closely strawberries and dark ripe delicious berries. Good to drink now.

A unique Chateauneuf-du-Pape, who in 2013 made of 93% Grenache, 2% Syrah, 2% Mouvedre, 2% Bourboulenc and 1% Cinsault. The vines are planted in the north of Chateauneuf-du-Pape on two plots Cabrieres and La Gardiole planted in 1910 and 1930. The wine is only stored in large tanks and sees no oak in the storage process.

Food pairing: Bird and game meat with sharp sauce, all dishes of beef, flavorful cheeses

James Suckling: This has power and focus
This has a very vibrant and aromatic array of red fruit and flowers with attractive raspberries and red plums, as well as spiced orange and yellow-peach notes. The palate has a very sapid and assertive, red-cherry core with a brand of tannin that is so forthright and so pure and linear. This has power and focus and needs some time. Best from 2024.

Domaine Ferrand is another example of how a generation (From Charles Phillipe) gives suddenly a winery entirely in the limelight, not least helped well on its way to Robert Parker, who believe that Ferrand has been one of the best wines of Châteauneuf-du Pape in the latest generations.

Phillipe took over from his father in 1995 and is the fourth generation in place. Until then, only a small production bottle of his father, almost exclusively for personal use. The son could see how good the wine was, and in 1997 marketed their own wines. The harvest from the sticks who are younger than 30 years are still sold negociant, so everything sold under the Domaine Ferrand, originating from canes that are more than 30 years old. Many of Grenache vines are about 100 years old. Phillipe is an extremely likeable man that his wines.

Domaine de Ferrand

Domaine de Ferrand, like many producers in the Southern Rhone Valley is a relative new winery, although the property is dated all the way back to at least 1760

Two hundred years later, Charles Bravay officially founded the domaine, which is located in Orange, north of Chateauneuf du Pape.

In 1995 Charles son, Philippe Bravay, took over the responsibilities of managing the estate. It was under his direction that they began producing, bottling and selling their own wine.

Domaine de Ferrand covers 5.5 hectares of vines in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. The old vines were planted in 1910 and 1930 at the two lieux-dits Cabrières and La Gardiole both located in the the cooler terroir in the northern part of the appellation.

Domaine de Ferrand also owns 10 hectares of vines in the Cotes du Rhone appellation that are used to produce red wine.

After only a few vintages of Chateauneuf du Pape Philippe Bravay's wines were highlighted by The Wine Advocate.
