Antonio Saramago - Reserva 2017
Rött vin från Sétubal Portugal2002 startade Saramago ett eget företag tillsammans med sin fru och två söner. 2008 fick han priset som årets oenolog och började också arbeta i Brasilien. 2011 blev han Portugals bästa oenolog och vann "Wine Masters' Challenge". Saramago firade 50-årsjubileet av sin karriär som Wine Maker 2012 och är för närvarande den äldsta aktiva portugisiska oenologen!

Tasting note
'The 2016 Reserva is a blend of 70% Castelão, 20% Touriga Nacional and the rest Alicante Bouschet, aged for 12 months in 50% new French oak. It comes in at 15.2% alcohol. Not imported, this runs around 17 euros in Portugal. This is a big and fruity wine with a lot of power and good structure. The Castelão is not overly flamboyant, but it is very powerful and hard edged, a bit rustic and not so easy to approach now. It's dense and burly. Given that it already has so long in bottle, I wonder if this is going to come into better balance, but it has a shot. Put it away for another couple of years and see what happens. The winery has certainly demonstrated that it can make wines that age well. There were 3,500 bottles produced.'
