Subtle aromatics of red-berry fruit and cedarwood spice lift from the glass, offering an inviting entry. Bold and medium-to full-bodied, the palate is layered with concentrated black cherry, blackberry, and spiced black currants, complemented by toasty vanilla-laced cedarwood and toasted fennel. The finish is lengthy and spice-driven, showcasing depth, structure, and a well-integrated balance of fruit and oak—a powerful yet refined expression. Aged 21 months in 95% new French oak. Grapes were sourced from the western bench of the Rutherford AVA from BV Ranches No. 1 and No. 2, originally planted by Georges de Latour in the early 1900s. The sites are well-draining alluvial soils.

Power and grace come together beautifully in this long-running classic from a 125-year-old Napa winery. So rich, layered, structured and age-worthy. Now blended with about 20% of grapes grown in different locations around the valley but centered on Rutherford-grown fruit. The addition of 9% petit verdot gives an inky dark component and floral, violet accents. Drinkable now, but best from 2030.
