Tasting note

My first tasting note was, “Electric!” This has a golden-yellow color and is brimming with concentrated aromas and flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, and Meyer lemon. There is a touch of lime zest and apricot supported by crisp acidity. The flavors linger in the mouth. It is exciting and delicious now, but its acidity will allow it to develop beautifully over time with proper storage. Fillaboa It is the only winery in Galicia that belongs to Grandes Pagos de España, Great Wine Estates of Spain. The “Vino de Pago” designation was established in 2003. The requirements include the Pago being owned by the producer located within a registered DO, and one that demonstrates unique characteristics worthy of the status.

On the slopes of the historic Fillaboa estate, in the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin in Galicia, this 100% Albariño wine is born. Its 50 cultivated hectares of vineyards, year after year, are caressed by temperate breezes, with a gentle constant humidity typical of the Atlantic climate that, together with the good quality of the soil, its “terroir”, make Fillaboa the best environment for cultivation of the Albariño grape variety, giving its wines a great personality.

We make it with the care, attention and pampering so typical of this Galician region, enhancing the primary aromas of the Albariño grape and letting it rest for 6 months on its own fine lees in stainless steel tanks.

The result could not be more surprising, a harmonious Albariño white wine, with good structure, that impresses with its clean and bright straw yellow color. If we stop to enjoy it calmly, we discover certain aromas of ripe fruits, notes of pineapple and apple. Hints of mango and citrus also appear. The sensation at the end, enjoying this Albariño from DO Rías Baixas, is that of a white wine, delicate and unctuous, with a very well integrated and balanced acidity. A fresh, fruity and round Albariño white wine on the palate. A delight for all the senses!

And, to accompany it, our Fillaboa (DO Rías Baixas, 100% Albariño) pairs perfectly with white and blue fish, seafood, smoked meats, sushi and foie.
