So floral and fresh with rose stem, sandalwood and orange blossom. Cherries, too. Full-bodied yet reserved and held back with creamy fine tannins and a beautiful finish. Shows brightness and finesse. Silky texture. One of the best I have had from here. A Brunello that emphasizes purity of fruit. Give this three to four years more. Try after 2026.

The wine is structured and firm at the back thanks to the quality of the tannins, and it offers generous fruit texture and concentration. This is a textbook Brunello from a warm vintage. Production is 15,000 bottles.

A brickish red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino offers up notes of fruitcake on the nose, with dried fruits, walnuts, leather, and wet stones. Full-bodied, it’s firmly structured but well-balanced, with good concentration and ripe fruit holding it all together. This is an impressive wine from Cerbaia to drink over the coming 10-12 years.

Cerbaia is located in the northern half of the Montalcino appellation, and it has vines up to 400 meters in elevation. In 2022, the newest vineyard parcel (planted near the winery in 2018) entered production. This site has rich soils with schistous galestro and extends over one hectare. The idea is to use this fruit for a new single-vineyard Selezione and a Riserva. Cerbaia has scored consistency over the past vintages, and it should be interesting to see how this new vineyard changes its offerings.

Captivating and decidedly clear in the solid sensorial profile which shows a notable substance reminiscent of black plums, blackberries, sandalwood, juniper berries, well-ripe black cherries, mandarin juice and medicinal herbs. Medium-full body, soft, well-smoothed tannins and a harmonious and balanced finish. Better from 2025.
