Fresh and juicy in the primary profile showing notes of cherries, grapefruit and lime. Medium bodied, balanced with good distension and a modern, decidedly harmonic closure. Beautiful right away.

The entry-level 2021 Morellino di Scansano is 90% Sangiovese with smaller parts Alicante and Ciliegiolo. This is a bright and punchy wine that you will have no problem pairing with easy pasta or lasagna. This is a charming wine with a playful Tuscan soul. The fruit is fresh and lean with plenty of ruby red cherry, raspberry and lightly toasted sweet almond.
Fattoria le Pupille’s Elisabetta Geppetti has recently made changes to her winemaking team. Consulting enologist Luca D’Attoma has left, and today winemaking is headed by her talented son Ettore Rizzi. Daughter Clara Gentili helps to manage the property. I have a full vertical of two Fattoria le Pupille wines to be published shortly. I tasted all vintages of Saffredi back to 1990 and Poggio Valente starting with the 1997 vintage.
