The primary and fruit-driven 2022 El Corralón was produced with Garnacha and 15% Syrah from Méntrida, and it matured in concrete and oak vat for five months. It's aromatic and straightforward, with a medium-bodied palate, good ripeness (14.5% alcohol) and abundant, slightly dusty tannins that give it a faintly rustic and powdery mouthfeel. It's better with food. 18,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023.

The Jiménez-Landi winery from José Benavides is focusing on Garnacha, Syrah and Malvar grapes from three villages: Méntrida, El Real de San Vicente and now also El Barraco. Benavides works 14 hectares using biodynamic principles and is in the process of being certified organic; he'll pursue the biodynamic certification later. He currently produces between 45,000 and 50,000 bottles.

Brambly berries, red cherries, cooked herbs and potpourri on the nose that follow through to a crunchy, medium-bodied palate with firm and compact tannins. Grippy and lightly chewy in the finish. Drink now.
