Brunello di Montalcino is surely one of the most well-known and treasured wines in the world. It is a red wine of extraordinary elegance and concentration obtained from a long ageing process.

It has a full and ethereal fragrance with hints of wild berries, black cherry and vanilla.

Ageing: 36 months, a part in Slovenian oak barrels and a part in French oak barriques.

Food suggestions: First courses, game with meat sauces, grilled dishes, roasts and medium-aged cheeses bring out the best in its deep and balance.

Brunello di Montalcino is surely one of the most well-known and treasured wines  in the world. It is a red wine of extraordinary elegance and concentration obtained from  a long ageing process. It has a full and ethereal fragrance  with hints of wild berries,  black cherry and vanilla.

Production Area : Montalcino

Grapes : 100% Sangiovese

Soil: Medium mixture with remarkable skeleton presence.

Altitude : 300 m above sea level

Harvest period : from September 20th to October 15th

Vinification : The grapes were cut and pressed, then the fermentation process takes place. The grape peels and the must fermentation lasts about 20 days. Racked off the wine is stored in containers in tempered rooms, in order to help the malolactic fermentation.

Ageing : up to 36 months, a part in Slavonian oak barrels and a part in French oak barrique.

Bottle ageing  : up to 6 months before selling the wine on the market.

Tasting Notes :  Bright ruby red, tending to garnet with aging. Bouquets of cherry, plum and spices. Full bodied ,  lively acidity with flavors of red fruits.  Fresh and long aftertaste. Long aging potential wine.

Food paring : Ideal match with grilled  or stewed red meat, game, seasoned cheeses . Serve at 18°C.

Here oak barrels and barriques give unmistakable aromas and enveloping fragrances to each wine.

The Brunelli family follows every phase of its production from the vinification to the ageing process with great passion, a guarantee of its quality and authenticity.

Our quality wines

Our most important vineyards extend over the southwest side of Montalcino at an altitude of about 250 meters. From this location, they are exposed to the sun for the entire length of the day and are likewise protected from the cold northern winds. At this average altitude, the grapes acquire the maximum expression of their fragrance and ripening. The land, rich in stone, guarantees excellent permeability and consequent drainage of rainwater. 

Other smaller vineyards are located in the north / north east side of Montalcino, with very different characteristics. A greater presence of water in medium-textured soils, with some clay, northerly winds, slightly cooler microclimate, which helps us in hot vintages to preserve the freshness of the grapes.

Each hectare holds about 5000 buds from the best Sangiovese stems using cultivation techniques which favor low yields, far below the 80 hundred kilograms expected by production specifications: a difficult but effective choice in order to obtain a great wine.
