Lighter ruby-hued, the 2021 Pinot Noir Seabiscuit Zotovich Vineyard comes from a great site in the Sta. Rita Hills and was destemmed and raised in new French oak. Wild strawberries, raspberries, rose petals, baking spices, and loamy soil notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, incredibly elegant mouthfeel and fine-grained tannins. It will evolve for 10-12 years, although it's fabulous today as well.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Seabiscuit Zotovich Vineyard comes from 18-year-old vines, and the wine was matured for 17 months in 57% new French oak. It's bursting with cranberry and blackberry preserves, blood orange, pipe tobacco and iron, plus forest and autumnal accents in the undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate is just as layered, its fruit concentrated yet nuanced. It has a finely chalky texture, fireworks of fresh acidity and a long finish streaked with dark spices. 475 cases were made.

The sandy soils of Sta. Rita Hills have proven more than capable of making extraordinary wine with great aromatics and fine structure. This year is no exception. 2022 'Seabiscuit' brings an exuberant nose of strawberry compote, lavender, and clove with nuances of vanilla. It is mid-bodied, zesty, with clean, velvety texture. The gentle, but persistent tannins will allow this wine to age gracefully with time.
