Exotic flowers, lavender and spices jump out from the glass with wild red and blue berries. Fresh goji berries, tile and mineral. Pure, juicy and tight on the palate with very chalky tannins. Mineral tension. Drink or hold.

The nose of the 2021 Las Pizarras Pinot Noir is clean, floral, expressive and elegant, with purity and precision. This is clean and less earthy, with very fine tannins and full development of aromas and flavors. The grapes ripened slowly, and they developed more nuance; but the main difference can be in quality of the tannins, which are really velvety here. It has amazing freshness, reflected by a pH of 3.43. It's linear and vertical. They used a smaller percentage of full clusters in the native fermentation, 10%, and the wine matured in French oak barrels, 45% of them new, for 12 months. Superb, very elegant. 7,900 bottles were filled in June 2022.

Patricio Tapia - Descorchados

Las Pizarras originates from a selection of parcels planted in 2005 and 2009 on slate soils in the Errázuriz vineyard on the Aconcagua Coast, about 12 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. The first harvest was in 2014 and, since then, Errázuriz has worked to express the coastal terroir of this corner of Aconcagua as clearly as possible. This is a step forward in that task. Supported by a cool year, this pinot shows flowers and red fruits as well as the ferrous notes that sometimes show up on slate soils. The palate has firm tannins, ripe red fruit, and firm acidity that projects to the end of the palate. Give it another year or two in the bottle, and it will gain even more complexity.
