The classic 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape is mostly Grenache yet includes 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, and 4% Cinsault, and it was brought up in a mix of foudre, old barrels, and demi-muids. It’s one hell of an impressive base cuvée that readers will love to have in their cellars. Ripe black raspberries, mulberries, toasted spice, pepper, and herbes de Provence notes all shine in this medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, elegant red.

Tasting note

This cuvée is the blend of our best plots of black Grenache and syrah on sandy soil and red sandstone. The grapes are destemmed and crushed and then conveyed in a stainless-steel tank.
