Tasting note
The sample of the 2024 La Diva, taken from the single used French oak barrel where it has been aging since January 2025, is even lower in alcohol (13.07%) and has similar levels of freshness and acidity as the 2023 that I tasted next to it. I found a level of sophistication, subtleness and elegance that reflects the limestone sand from the village, which I loved it at first sight. It is closed and backward and takes a long time to open up slowly in the glass, but I found a similar sensation with the 2024 Carravilla—austerity and elegance. It feels that this vineyard really repays lower yields. Production will be limited to some 300 bottles.
Dominio de ES is the personal project from Bertrand Sourdais from Antídoto and Galia Soriana. He has finally built his own winery and cellar in the village of San Esteban de Gormaz, in a building in the village where he has dug 10 meters down to have natural temperature and humidity and a capacity of 30,000 bottles (he's currently making some 10,000). They should vinify 2025 in this new winery.
I tasted two vintages, 2023 and 2024, both still unbottled. The 2023s were very gentle earlier on, but they developed more electricity and make you salivate more. The 2024s are more tender and more ethereal, but for some reason, the acidity dropped quite a lot during the fermentation and malolactic; they have precipitated more tartaric (they found it in the vats) than ever. Bertrand even says he finds some dilution in the 2024s... But in some wines, I think I will prefer the 2024 (Carravilla and La Diva) and in others the 2023... It's still a little too early for the 2024s; some were difficult to read, and even the 2023s showed too young.

« Ungrafted ‘Grand Cru’ vines with north-eastern exposure, that develop their potential on sandy and calcareous terraces, protected by low stone walls. Thus, the inheritance is preserved and the Tinto Fino and Albillo grapes bring the specificity of their flavour.
La Diva has irrepressible personality, exceptional pedigree, a wine that will grow in the bottle thanks to its nature as a ‘Grand Cru’. With a reduced number of vines, nurtured to the extreme, the highly valued vines provide around 600 bottles per year. This is the natural consequence of growing this ‘rara avis’. »
