Wine Enthusiast

Ripeness and elegance define this Cabernet Franc from Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo. The nose is inviting and offers aromas of violets and cranberries. Finely-grained tannins and good acidity provide support to balanced cigar box, blackberry, cranberry and mulberry flavors that merge seamlessly with hints of earthy bell pepper and herbal notes.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2019 Gran Enemigo Agrelo Single Vineyard shows the completeness of the vintage, a year with good yields and a cooler winter and summer. The result is a very balanced wine with full development of aromas and flavors, moderate ripeness and good freshness and balance. It has a fine texture, some chalky sensations and a dry finish, despite the fact that the soils have no limestone. The vines here are over 40 years of age. 7,200 bottles were filled July 2020.

There are some new wines at El Enemigo, a project from Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena that does not stop growing. They produce an impressive 1.2 million bottles between all the ranges. They are also going to plant some more vineyards with Chardonnay.

James Suckling

A spicy cabernet franc full of red fruit, iodine, wet stones, white pepper and oyster shells. Full-bodied but nicely austere on the palate with chalky tannins and a linear finish. Tannins are super tight yet tense and dissolved. Mineral-driven finish. 50% whole bunch. Drink or hold.

Patricio Tapia - Descorchados

One of the best interpretations of Agrelo we've tasted this year, the cabernet franc used here is from vineyards planted in the mid-1980s along the traditional Calle Cobos, the backbone of the Agrelo zone. The clay-rich soils have produced a cabernet franc that's juicy and broad, although with good acidity to balance, herbal and floral notes, touches of earth, and a refreshing finish where the acidity takes the floor.
