Tasting note
At Kreuzberg in Rossatz, two rock types meet: paragneiss and migmatite amphibolite. Overlying the bedrock lies scree, largely enriched with secondary limestone from the former loess cover. The large amphibolite stones are accompanied by yellow feldspars. Thanks to the northwest exposure of the Kreuzberg vineyard, even a very hot summer cannot harm the vines. The long evening sun provides sufficient warmth for the grapes to ripen.
Two rock types, paragneiss and migmatite-amphibolite, occur at Kreuzberg near Rossatz. The profile was taken from the upper reaches dominated by dark-coloured amphibolite. The bedrock is covered with slope debris that has mostly been enriched with secondary carbonate from the former loess cover. Yellow feldspars are found among the large amphibolite fragments. The Kreuzberg vineyards face northwest, so that the vines thrive even in the hottest of summers. The long periods of evening sun provide enough warmth to ripen the grapes.

Aard Collection Grüner Veltliner is an exclusive Wachau Grüner Veltliner created by the talented winemaking duo Josef and Katja Fischer. This special wine is a tribute to their first son, Josef Ceder Fischer, which is why the label is a work of art depicting the Cederberg in South Africa. Only the finest grapes from the Wachau of that vintage were selected, and the wine aged for 18 months in used oak. With a limited edition of just 2,000 bottles and a label designed by a South African artist, this is a personal and unique expression of craftsmanship and emotion.
Only produced in choice vintages, this cuvée is from a 75-year-old parcel of Grüner Veltliner in Kreuzberg—the oldest planting in the entire vineyard. This is both fermented and aged in wood—a single 1500-liter cask in which the wine spends two full years on its fine lees—and the resulting wine combines the lusciousness of the entry-level GV with the diamond-cut precision and palate-staining minerality of the regular Kreuzberg bottling.
