Jorge Piernas Bodegas - a family united in their passion for wine
The first vestiges of this winery sprouted thanks to Juan Piernas, the founder's grandfather, who transmitted his passion for wine to his son and grandchildren.
Today his grandson, Jorge Piernas, has the pleasure of ensuring that the hard work and formation of the family business over the past two generations continues to develop and grow, but more so that the family brand delivers upon the aspirations that his grandfather Juan had dreamt of. Jorge is the visible leader along with his brother Fernando, Head of Financial Management and his father Antonio Piernas, Head of Sales and Distribution.
With a Oenology degree Jorge has completed his training at some of the most prestigious wineries in the United States, Argentina and New Zealand. Along with well rounded experience that thrives on tradition and the latest trends in oenology and viticulture, Jorge continues to develop his skills and consolidate what he has learnt through working with three of the best wineries in the Mediterranean, as well as using his expertise to coach several other wineries.
The winery has been designed for small craft production and is designed on one level. Under the premise of "Processing by gravity", a natural process of moving the wine, letting it fall by its own weight and processing the grapes with the utmost respect.The vineyards ranging from 25 to 55 years of age are located at an altitude of 830 meters, and Jorge Piernas try to turn every single grape into wine in the most natural and artisanal way – a traditional philosophy where quality prevails over quantity.
