Här redovisar och presenterar vi kända vinskribenters utlåtande om specifika viner. Utöver dessa lägger vi in en egen kommentar när vi har provat samma vin.

James Halliday

The name here pays homage to gnarled bush vines of the Barossa, famous across the globe. Deep saturated red-purple hue, there is a distinct ginger-spice aspect to the plush black plum and black cherry fruit on display here. There is an array of spice too, with hints of dark chocolate and a plume of mulberry lift. Great fruit concentration, fine ripe tannin and a tight acid line drives things along nicely.

Wine Enthusiast

There are black pepper, cherry and chocolate vibes to start here. They lead to a palate that's big but surprisingly fresh thanks to a lift of tangy acidity, which brightens fruit and softens tannins. It's no wallflower, but its power is reined in, allowing the fruit and site character to shine. Drink now and over the next seven to eight years.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

This 2021 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz is aptly named, and shows the earthy side of the Barossa in the glass. The 2021 season was cool, and a welcome reprieve from the low-yielding, warm couple of vintages that preceded it. As such, this wine is a little slower to emerge from its shell and will really benefit from a further year in bottle. Smart, though.

Decanter Magazine

Two Hands is a boutique winemaking operation born two decades ago with the goal of making great Shiraz from the most prized growing regions in Australia. This 100% Shiraz wine is a great example of modern Barossa Shiraz, made from 'gnarly' old vines, and bottled under screwcap after a year ageing in French oak. Bold and plush, this has a lovely purity of fresh blackcurrant and plum fruit, with a slightly salty edge to it. A lovely mouthful, and comes in at under £20 (£18.99) at the mix-six price.

James Suckling

Fruity nose of baked cherries, ripe mulberries and blackcurrants. Some black licorice. Full-bodied with ripe tannins. Silky and lightly jammy. Drink now. Screw cap.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate
