The oldest document we have about the history of the family is dated 17th June 1395 and refers to the establishment of a census by the Lord of Gelida on the Mas de la Torrevella (current situation of the estate or Can Martí and its 'masias' or country houses , Can Martí de Baix and Can Martí de Dalt - lower and upper Can Martí), in favour of my direct ancestor Jaume Miquel, with "all his houses, buildings, fields, vines, lands, woods, allotments, honours and other possessions, waters, aqueducts, entrances and exits and all his rights and possessions which are of the Mas o will be in the future, whatever they may be."

Throughout the centuries the family surname has changed with successive matrimonies, until the current one, Torelló, which corresponds to the 22nd generation, which conserves the property, honouring the order of my ancestor who instructed that "you and your successors be your own men and alone, natural, mine and of mine, and make the Mas your home, farm and residence."

From 1951, my father Francisco Torelló, anticipating the economic change in the country, oriented the traditional agricultural tradition of the family towards the industrialisation of wine-making, initiating the production of cava and bottled wine with the grapes from the vines on the Can Martí estate.

It is my and my family's pride to keep in mind the history that joins agricultural tradition with industrial modernity and with the promise to continue doing our work well, thus honouring his memory. Torelló wines and cavas are made with rigour and passion.

The Can Martí estate belongs to the family since 1395, and occupioes 135 hectares in the fertile región of Penedès. We cultivate white grape varieties Macabeo, Xarel.lo, Parellada, Chardonnay and Subirat Parent and the reds Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

In different subterranean cellars of our winery, which occupies 5,500m2, the bottles will remain in the dark and at a controlled temperature, reposing and enriching itself in flavours and qualities. Torelló only makes Reserva cavas (more than 15 months of aging), and Gran Reserva (more than 30 months of aging) following the rules of the Regulatory Council of Cava.

After the aging, the manual shaking of the bottles on the A-rack is done to move the sediments to the neck.

In one room of our cellar, at controlled temperature and humidity, the red wine Raimunda, which we have been making since 1998, lies in French Allier, Limousine and American oak barrels, so recuperating an ancestral family tradition.
In another room in the cellar we make the white wine Crisalys, Xarel.lo fermented and aged in large barrels and vats of French oak.
