Gilbert & Gaillard
[vintage 2019]

Brilliant pale yellow with green tints. Endearing nose marrying minerality and spring-like perfumes backed by fruit. Great tension on the palate lifts the superb saline, mineral and fruity flavours. Textbook precision and nothing surplus to requirements.

Gismondi on Wine
[vintage 2021]

The Monte Alto vineyard sits at 150m elevation, strewn with peddles and benefiting from vines over 34 years old. This is fermented cool and matured in stainless steel for over a year on fine lees. Now with additional time in bottle, this pours a deeper hue, with a complex nose of gold-hued peach, delicate honeysuckle florals, and lees, all backed by a driving salinity. I love the combination of crisp acidity and rich, creamy texture from lees aging. A quintessential expression of albariño at a bargain price for the quality. (Geoffrey Moss MW).

Wine Enthusiast
[vintage 2020]

This light-yellow-colored wine has aromas of pineapple and bergamot with a touch of river rocks. Nicely textured, it has flavors of yuzu, lemon-lime, dried thyme and sage. The vivid finish is infused with notes of freshly chopped basil and parsley.

James Suckling

Pineapple and persimmon aromas along with citrus fruit and a touch of spice. It’s medium-bodied, lightly salty and flavorful, with a fresh finish. Drink now.

Andreas Larsson - Tasted

Bright, light golden color and hue. Nuanced nose showing some lees-derived creamy and spicy notes with ripe citrus, lemongrass, fresh stone fruit, and stony/flinty notes. Good layers on the palate, voluminous but bone dry and crisp, with a long and lingering finish.

Tasting note

My first tasting note was, “Electric!” This has a golden-yellow color and is brimming with concentrated aromas and flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, and Meyer lemon. There is a touch of lime zest and apricot supported by crisp acidity. The flavors linger in the mouth. It is exciting and delicious now, but its acidity will allow it to develop beautifully over time with proper storage. Fillaboa It is the only winery in Galicia that belongs to Grandes Pagos de España, Great Wine Estates of Spain. The “Vino de Pago” designation was established in 2003. The requirements include the Pago being owned by the producer located within a registered DO, and one that demonstrates unique characteristics worthy of the status.

« Fillaboa - god dotter - på galiciska, är den största egendomen i fastighetsregistret i Pontevedra och en av de äldsta i Galicien. 54 hektar Albariño-vingårdar är uppdelade i 11 tomter som var och en behandlas på ett individuellt sätt, som ger frukt av högsta kvalitet. » Historia 1974, under ordförandeskapet av Pedro Masaveu Peterson, gjorde familjen Masaveu sin första investering i denna sektor med "Bodegas Murua S.A.". Technical sheet

Originating from the emblematic Monte Alto plot, this Albariño white wine is made with grapes from one of our highest altitude vineyards, 150m above sea level. We are talking about an inland terroir, with an exceptional location in a meander of the Minho, just before the river meets the Atlantic Ocean. The long hours of sunshine that fills the vines with life, gives the grapes a progressive and constant growth and maturation that, together with the age of the vineyard, planted in 1988, make these Albariño grapes offer us white wines of exceptional character and quality.

To achieve the expression and spirit of the best Albariño wines from the Rías Baixas DO, we work with a traditional winemaking process to which we pay a lot of attention and care. Fillaboa Selección Finca Monte Alto starts with an alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature, with 14ºC at the beginning of fermentation and 16ºC at the end. To enhance the true character of the Rías Baixas we use a selection of indigenous yeasts and keep the wine on fine lees for a minimum of 12 months in stainless steel tanks.

With all this care and wisdom we achieve an Albariño white wine with a high aromatic intensity and a delicate straw yellow color that reflects bright greenish tones. When we dwell a little more on this Albariño wine, we discover notes of ripe fruit, apple and citrus, which give way to hints of bakery flavors such as brioche and light toasted notes that gain prominence with time in the bottle.

If we want to taste it at lunch or dinner, Fillaboa Selección Finca Monte Alto (DO Rías Baixas, 100% Albariño) is perfect for pairing with seafood, shellfish, baked fish, pasta dishes, some types of sashimi and vegetable wok.

Fillaboa Selección Finca Monte Alto is an outstanding wine with numerous recognitions, including the Double Gold from Gilbert Gaillard 2022, the Gold Medal in the WineDistillates and Wineries Guide of Galicia 2021, from the 2018 vintage. ; and other awards in which it has obtained a high score such as Wine Spectator 2022, with 91 points and the Special Report of Rías Baixas 2022 by Tim Atkin, with a score of 93 points.
