Tasting note
Because the Vecchie Vigne was not made in 2022, fruit from the old vines was directed to this wine instead. The Paitin 2022 Barbaresco Serraboella Sorì Paitin is a beautiful wine with dark elements of graphite, dusty root, pencil shaving and licorice. This site has active limestone, and this brings a sense of greater volume in terms of mouthfeel, tannic firmness and balanced acidity.
During my tasting of Paitin at the estate in Neive earlier this year, I retasted the 2022 Barbaresco Serraboella. Because that wine is usually the first to be released, I already published my review in my previous report from Piedmont. We also retasted the excellent 2020 Barbaresco Serraboella Riserva Sorì Paitin Vecchie Vigne (that was already reviewed), and I got a sneak preview of the 2021 vintage. That wine won't be released until mid-2026, so I will wait to publish my review later this year.
