Robert Parker Wine Advocate
A certified organic wine, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino display a savory character that accompanies the wine from start to finish over the palate and then some. There is a core of black fruit, but the real takeaway is that spicy contour of dark chestnut husk, acacia honey, tilled earth and toasted rosemary that fills the balloon of your glass. This Brunello finishes on a tart note and shows tannins that could use a few extra years to soften. This is a wine of medium-rich concentration, with 33,000 bottles hitting the market.
Marilisa Allegrini and her team are happy with results in 2018. The growing season was not easy, but the two single-vineyard Brunellos—Podernovi and Vignavecchia—do show differences linked to site and fruit selection.

Black olives, capers, prunes, blackberries, incense and wet earth describe the primary profile of this dark Brunello. Medium bodied, rounded tannins and a finale of luminous workmanship. Better from 2023.
Gismondi on Wine
Nothing but refinement and elegance here. There's a mix of red plum and earth with featherweight tannins, allowing all to float across your palate, finishing dry and slightly tart. The balance is remarkable. This is more of an ethereal experience, than a power red living at the finesse end of Brunello. Careful food selection is required here to keep the wine front and centre in your glass. Drink now through 2028. (Anthony Gismondi).
